The 5-day Machame Route is a challenging and fast-paced climb on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is best suited for experienced hikers with good physical fitness, as it offers limited time for acclimatization compared to the standard 6 or 7-day itinerary.
This trek is led by Baobab Safari Adventure's certified mountain guides and experienced porter crew, with all park fees, meals on the mountain and camping equipment included � so you can focus on the climb of a lifetime toward Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres.

Full Itinerary
Your 5-Day Machame Trek
After breakfast, drive to Machame Gate for registration and permit formalities. Begin your trek through the lush rainforest, where towering trees, colorful birds, and playful monkeys create a magical atmosphere. The trail gradually climbs through dense vegetation before reaching Machame Camp.
Upon arrival, enjoy a freshly prepared dinner and spend your first night on the mountain surrounded by the sounds of the forest.
After breakfast, continue ascending through heath and moorland landscapes to the beautiful Shira Plateau. The scenery changes dramatically, with giant lobelias and breathtaking mountain views.
From Shira, continue toward Barranco Camp, crossing rocky terrain and enjoying spectacular views of Kibo Peak and the Great Barranco Wall. Overnight at Barranco Camp.
Today's adventure begins with climbing the famous Barranco Wall, one of the most exciting sections of the route. After reaching the top, the trail descends into Karanga Valley before continuing to Barafu Camp.
Barafu Camp offers stunning views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks and serves as the base camp for the summit attempt. After an early dinner, rest for a few hours before the midnight ascent.
Around midnight, begin the challenging summit climb under a sky full of stars. Reach Stella Point before continuing to the highest point in Africa, Uhuru Peak (5,895 m).
Celebrate your incredible achievement, take photos at the summit, and enjoy breathtaking sunrise views above the clouds. Afterward, descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing to Mweka Camp for an overnight stay.
The final descent takes you through lush rainforest filled with birdsong and beautiful vegetation. Upon reaching Mweka Gate, receive your summit certificate and celebrate the successful completion of your Kilimanjaro adventure.
You will then be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha for a well-deserved rest and celebration.
